The rules, and what happens when they are broken

हिन्दी

Who this is for

Jalwatara is for adults working in fashion, film and photography in India. Nobody under 18 may hold an account, and nobody may publish, message, apply or book before their identity is verified.

These rules apply to everything you post, send or arrange here.

Reporting something

Every sedcard, image, casting, comment and message carries a report control. Choose a category, add a note if it helps, and you get a receipt straight away.

You are told the outcome when the matter closes: action taken, no action, already known, or content removed. You are never told what happened to the other person's account, and they are never told who reported them.

Reporting the same thing twice returns the first receipt. Reports that are dismissed again and again move behind the rest of the queue; they are never thrown away.

How long a report takes

Every report joins a queue with a clock. The clock starts when the report arrives. At three quarters of it the matter goes to the Grievance Officer.

The steps we take

A person decides every step, with the evidence open in front of them and a written reason. No account is ever restricted, suspended or banned by software alone, and a suspension or a ban needs a second person's approval.

Warning
The first step for most matters. Nothing is removed and nothing is hidden.
Content removed
The picture, comment, casting or message goes; the account stays.
Restriction
Posting or messaging is paused, for up to 7 days.
Suspension
The account is paused for up to 30 days. Three steps in twelve months are needed first, unless the matter is one of the three below.
Ban
The account is closed. Involvement of anyone under 18, intimate images shared without consent and impersonation go here at once.

Appealing

You may appeal any step once, within 30 days. A different person hears it, never the one who acted, and answers within 48 hours.

If the appeal is upheld the step stands. If it is reversed, the content or the account comes back and the reversal is counted in the transparency report.

The one exception is an account refused because the person is under 18. That is not appealable.

Intimate images

An intimate image shared without consent is hidden the moment it is reported, before anyone reviews it. Its fingerprint is blocked so the same picture cannot be posted again anywhere on Jalwatara.

A responder is paged at once and the matter is decided within two hours. Support is offered in the receipt.

What we publish

Twice a year we publish how many reports we received, by category; how many steps we took, by step; how many appeals were filed and how many were reversed. The report carries no names.
